Description
We are very pleased to offer an 1861Hannover (Kingdom), George V. silver thaler.
On one side is the head of George V. and the engraver´s name (BREHMER) at the base of the neck. It reads around the circumference, "
GEORG V v. G. G. KOENIG v. HANNOVER
". The reverse displays the crowned heraldic arms of the House of Hannover, supported by a Unicorn and Lion. Banner reads in Latin, "
NUNQUAM RETRORSUM / SUSCIPERE ET FINERE"
which translates to, " Never to retreat! / To undertake and accomplish!". The circumference reads, "
EIN VEREINSTHALER XXX EIN PFUND FEIN / 1861
". George V (George Frederick Alexander Charles Ernest Augustus (27 May 1819 – 12 June 1878) was the last king of Hanover and a member of the German branch of the House of Hanover.
The coin is in good, as-found, uncertified condition with some light surface wear. I'm not a coin expert, so feel free to ask any questions. A desirable addition to aa vintage German coin collection!
