    Description

    Dutch Art Nouveau Gouda bowl with a semi-matte glaze from Plateelbakkerj Zuid-Holland (PZH), Netherlands - 1922.
    A boldly designed bowl with interesting ‘ears’ or handles marked for Plauzid with
    Corona
    decoration. It brightly colored, semi-matte glaze, Gouda décor is abstract and free-flowing. The word Plauzid was an abbreviated form for Plateelbakkerj Zuid-Holland.
    PZH was founded by 1898 in the town of Gouda in South Holland. This signed Gouda pottery has a PZH (Plateelbakkerj Zuid-Holland) date mark resembling a diamond shape for the year 1922 (painted). An impressed mark on its bottom side was reportedly used to inform the decorator which pattern to paint or glaze to apply.
