These carafes are designed to  unscrew at the bottom, should you ever require a new double walled glass vacuum liner, thereby making these a buy it for life piece. Hot tea or coffee stays piping  hot all day - never tried these with cold drinks, but I assume they keep cold even longer. Instruction booklet is enclosed.
